Profile ~ Amy Brown Hicks, Massachusetts - 1992

Amy’s affiliation with girls’ athletic programs dates back to 1954.  During her years, she was active as a teacher, coach, and as an official.  She has coached field hockey, gymnastics, track & field, and lacrosse.

Amy was instrumental in organizing and implementing the first state track & field meet for high school girls.  As an active member of the Boston Board of Officials, she conducted clinics, workshops, and rating sessions for track & field officials.  She served as meet director for the Bay State League meets and conferences from 1975 to 1985.

She conducted numerous clinics, workshops and demonstrations throughout the Northeast in gymnastics and track & field, and pioneered these two sports in Massachusetts and New England from 1959 – 1970.

Today, Amy remains active in the National Masters Championship swimming and track & field competitions.
