Profile ~ Fran Vandermeer, Massachusetts - 2002

 

Fran VandermeerFran is currently the head coach for women’s volleyball and softball at Williams College, Williamstown, MA, a position she has held for 2 years.  Prior to that, she coached at Trinity (4 years) and Saint Joseph, CT (1 year).  She was a player/coach with the New London Volley Club (new Haven Dippers) and the New Britain Volleyball Club for 15 years, has held a PAVO National Volleyball Official’s rating from 1995 to the present, and  served as a high school and collegiate volleyball official for 27 years.  She has also served as a high school and collegiate basketball official from 1975-1987, a WPVA official, and a high school softball umpire form 1991-1996.  Fran has also be an assigner for CT collegiate volleyball.

Her league affiliations include: NESCAC Conference, Professional Association of Volleyball Officials, the Big Ten Conference as an official, the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Big East Conference, the America East conference, the Ivy League, and the USA Volleyball.

Her coaching record for softball is 107-114-1 and for volleyball, 141-96.  Teams coached by Fran have been champions in several areas: ECAC volleyball 1988, softball 1999; NESAC volleyball 2001, championship; NCAA Division I Regionals 1996 and 1997, Division II finals, Elite 8, 1996 to the present.  Her men’s volleyball team won the Hall of Fame Championship in 1996; ECAC softball play in 2001 and 2002; NESCAC, West Championship; NECC Championships.

Fran was inducted into the Connecticut Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1998.
