Profile ~ Johanna DiCarlo, Massachusetts - 2017

After graduation from Bentley University, Johanna served as assistant athletic director and head coach of field hockey and softball at Regis College (2000-2002).  She then became head field hockey and softball coach at WPI for 5 years.  In 2007 she became the Director of Athletics at Westborough High School.

During her time coaching at WPI and Regis, her teams grew each year.  She took both programs from disarray and brought them to a place where they were successful and competitive, and generated pride in the young women on these teams.

As a high school athletic director, she has been a member of NIAAA (national level) and MSSADA (state level).  Johanna is active in the MIAA: gymnastics committee, girls’ lacrosse committee (chair since 2009), and Girls and Women in Sport Committee.  She is also a committee member and presenter for the Girls and Women in Sport Day.

“I was fortunate to have a tremendous athletic career at Dracut High School and Bentley University and it has always been my driving motivation to give back to our student athletes in the ways I was supported as a young athlete. … At WHS I am proud of the mentoring I am able to provide to our new coaches as well as our athletes.”
