Profile ~ Judith R. Slamin, Massachusetts - 1997

Judith Slamin

Judith is the administrator for the Newton Smash Junior Olympic Volleyball Team, a team of 180 girls.  She is also a volleyball official and a recreation leader.

Since 1979, Judith has been involved in WomanSport as a volleyball player, then an official, and now as a coach and official.

She is affiliated with the Boston Board of Officials and is the past president of the Volleyball Committee.  She is a member of the New England Volleyball Officials Organization, the National Association for Girls & Women in Sport, and the New England Region Volleyball Association.  Judith is a college and high school state rated volleyball official and holds a USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation, Level One.

Her post-season and championship play have included: Director of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament, South Sectional, Division I and Division II for girls from 1987 to the present, and the MIAA State volleyball director for boys, 1990 to the present.

Judith is a player for the Massachusetts Senior Olympics Volleyball Team which represented Massachusetts at the Senior Olympics in Tucson, AZ, in April, 1997.

The Judge Franklin Flashner Award, in recognition for contributions to Newton youth and the New England Regional Volleyball Association Award for contributions to girls’ Junior Olympic Volleyball have been presented to Judith.
