Profile ~ Nina P. Warner, Massachusetts - November, 1995

 

Nina, in addition to being a Physical Education teacher at Burlington High School, also coaches gymnastics, field hockey, track & field, and softball there.  She served as head coach for gymnastics from 1970-1977, assistant coach 1982-1984, and head coach 1984-1996.  In addition to coaching gymnastics, Nina was a girls gymnastics judge from 1977-1982.  She has also been head field hockey coach 1970-1974, assistant girls’ track & field coach 1992-1996, and assistant softball coach for one year in the early 1980’s.

Her gymnastics teams have been very successful, winning the Middlesex League Championships in 1977, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1986.  In 1991 they were the Massachusetts State Gymnastics Champions.

Professional affiliations include the Middlesex League Girls Gymnastic League Representative, 1994-1996; Massachusetts Girls Gymnastic Coaches Association, 1970-1996 (treasurer for 5 years); Massachusetts Girls Gymnastics Judges Association, 1994-1996; Women’s Sports Foundation, 1991-1996; and the MIAA Gymnastics Tournament Committee, 1988-1996.

Her advocacy activities include attending interscholastic girls’ sporting events whenever she is not coaching.  From 1993 to the present, she has been an announcer for girls’ field hockey games.
