Profile ~ Pauline Ciccone, Massachusetts - January, 1995

Pauline is the Director of Athletics for the Leominster Public Schools.  Her responsibilities include the administration of a program for over thirty teams and the many athletes and coaches who make up those teams.

She has coached field hockey, softball, tennis, and basketball and served as co-advisor for the Girls’ Athletic Association at Leominster High School.  The GAA, which was a most prestigious club at Leominster High School, raised money for girls’ athletic awards and scholarships.

Under her leadership, the field hockey team qualified for District play two out of three years.  Her 1974 field hockey team had an undefeated season and was semi-finalists in the district playoffs.  It is important to take note of a statement made by Pauline: “the importance of girls playing sports was not encouraged; therefore win/loss records were not usually kept.  We had fun, learned a lot about ourselves, and became better people because of these experiences in athletics.”

Pauline holds membership in the Midland/Wachusett Athletic Directors’ League, the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association, the District E Athletic Director’s Association, the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.  She feels that her greatest recognition was being elected to the position of Athletic Director of Leominster High School.
