Profile ~ Ruth Martowska, Massachusetts- 1994

Beginning with her graduation from Bridgewater State College in 1957, Ruth’s busy career has included, in addition to coaching and officiating, raising a family.  She coached basketball, field hockey, and softball at a number of South Shore high schools.

She has been a member of the Boston Board of Officials, South Suburban Board of Officials, and the Officials for Women’s Collegiate Athletics.  She holds ratings in field hockey, basketball, softball and has officiated in numerous college and high school tournaments.

In recent years, she has been recognized for her efforts in promoting opportunities for girls to compete.  These include improvement in the facilities for the girls’ athletic programs and for additional opportunities for girls to compete within the community in out of school programs.

For her efforts with her community programs, she has received the Outstanding Service to International Amateur Softball award in 1979 and in 1993 the Joseph W. Wall Memorial Award for her dedication and service to Norwood Little League.
