Betty Ann GilesBetty Ann has been involved in sports as a teacher, coach and umpire.  She is a former member (1983-1992) of the National Lacrosse Umpires Commission.  She has spent countless hours developing and training umpires at the local high school, collegiate, and open levels.  She has also been involved with the production of two educational lacrosse videotapes.  She obtained her rating in 1988 and umpired the World Cup in 1993.  In 1995 she coached the Dean College Field Hockey Team to a second place in the NCAA National Tournament.  During her 13 years at Dean, she coached six All-Americans and numerous All-New England players.  She also coached the Wheaton College lacrosse team at the ECAC 2000 Tournament.

She is involved with the New England College women’s Lacrosse Umpires Association, the Eastern Massachusetts Women’s Lacrosse Umpires Association, the U.S. Field Hockey Association, the Boston Field Hockey Umpires Association, the United States Tennis Association, and the New England Lawn Tennis Association.

Records for her teams are not available.  As an official, she has umpired many MIAA field hockey and lacrosse tournaments and the 1993 Lacrosse World Cup in Edinburgh, Scotland.
