Sarah R McCaigue, Massachusetts- November, 1995

Sarah has served as the Director of Athletics at Lawrence Academy since 1988.  Prior to that time, she was a teacher/coach at Hinsdale (NH) High School from 1980-1984 where she coached field hockey, basketball and softball.  While there, her field hockey team won the Small School State Championship.  Her field hockey record is 54-16-5.  From 1986-1988 she served as Associate Athletic Director at Lawrence academy, and became the Athletic Director in 1988.

She is affiliated with the Independent School League and served as secretary, 1992-1993 and president, 1993-1994.

As an advocate for women’s sport, Sarah submitted a proposal to L’Eggs and received a $2,000 grant from them for female athletes.  She has also assisted with plans and the construction of a new three million dollar athletic center that opened in May, 1993.  One of the goals of that construction was to provide equitable space for female athletes.  She has also been successful in securing parental donations specifically for the girls’ teams.  From 1991 to the present, she has been the director of the Lawrence Academy Field Hockey Camp.
