Nancy E Dobie, Rhode Island – 2004

During her tenure at Seekonk (MA) High School, Nancy supervised student teachers.  She also worked as a consultant in swimming pool design and as a gymnasium design consultant for the Wheeler School in Providence, Rhode Island, for the Androscoggin Swim Center in Brunswick, Maine, and for the YMCA pool in Barrington, Rhode Island.  Since 1983, Nancy has been a member of the New England Masters’ Swim Team.

Nancy holds a national rating in basketball and from 1964-1978 she officiated both high school and college games at Seekonk (MA) High School.  She has also coached softball from 1966-1972 at Seekonk and has been involved in the intramural program there.

As an official, she has worked high school and college games from 1964-1978 in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.  She has also officiated state play-off games from 1975-1978.
Nancy was a member of the Rhode Island Field Hockey Association (1965-1970) and served as president in 1969.  During her affiliation with the Rhode Island Field Hockey Association, she organized a touring team which traveled to Holland to play six Dutch teams during the summer of 1969.

In 2004, Nancy worked as co-director of an ad hoc committee to restructure and bring the Rhode Island Senior Olympics in compliance with the national organization.  She is currently working to recognize Bessie Rudd at the University of Rhode Island and at Brown University for her many contributions to field hockey in Rhode Island as well as the United States.
