Janice Reilly, Connecticut – 2024
Janice was a student- thlete/cheerleader from 1970 to 1972. She went on to spend her career as a teacher and coach, always mentoring and advocating for girls’ and women’s sports. As an administrator she continues to provide opportunities and open doors for women in sport.
Since the 1970s, Janice has coached gymnastics, track and field, cheerleading and field hockey at Simsbury, Conrad and East Catholic High Schools in Connecticut. She was a gymnastics judge from 1978 through 1988 and chair of the CT gymnastics committee from 1984 to 1986.
In 2001 Janice was inducted into the East Catholic Hall of Fame. She coached three girls to individual state champions in track and field. Her gymnastic teams won consistently in the state tournament; in addition, she started the first field hockey team at East Catholic High School. She has been at East Catholic High School for 44 years and has served as the Dean of student life since 2020.
